Today I graduated from Crossfit 101. No cap and gown. No “Pomp and Circumstance” playing. Well, maybe more like “Pump and Circumstance.” Instead of a diploma on the wall, I have an inverted burpee with my name on it. It leads me to wonder, as I think over the last four weeks. What have I gained?
Muscle? Yes. Skills? Check. Strength? Most definitely. A minute/8 seconds on my baseline time? Hot dog. But I have also gained more than I ever could have expected, most importantly an incredible group of friends who have inspired me to push harder than I thought I could or even needed to.
Through the Tribe, I’ve earned a new degree of confidence that is going to take me further than my BA in English ever has. In fact, I will be taking the Homewood Police Department’s PT Test on Thursday, just for kicks; to see if I can do it; something I always said I’d love to try one day. So here I go. I’m wondering what the guy who is actually vying for a spot on the Force will think when he learns I’m just out there for fun. Did I say fun? Since when did utter exhaustion become fun? Oh, yeah. When I joined ITF.
Can’t wait to continue my education and go for my “advanced degree.”

Reading this brings me such joy, Janie! Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day and sharing this info not only with the ITF staff, but with all the Tribe members as well.
After reading this I feel extremely fired up for my baseline workout tonight!
Ahahaha That’s awesome
I’m sure you will crush the PD Test. As a matter of fact, do you think they would let me do it too?
I wanna do the test too!!
But seriously Janie, thank you for the wonderful post! it will be great to share with the rest tribe, not to mention encouraging and moving! keep rockin it!
