I was playing in a golf scramble, and noticed someone I didn’t recognize playing the next hole. I drove up to see who it was. From a distance I could tell this was a man in his 20’s and in peek physical condition. When I pulled up I was embarrassed to find that this man was my 50 year old uncle! A discussion began and he introduced me to Iron Tribe. I joined shortly after.
A few weeks in my son (he’s 6 years old) asked me this question over dinner. I told him because ‘I want to watch you walk your daughter down the aisle at her wedding.’ I’m sure you can imagine the confused look on his face. I have always struggled with weight, heath and fitness. I have that all or nothing personality with everything — and especially in this area. I’ve been from couch weight (265 pounds) to marathon weight (185 pounds) and back to couch weight so many times I’m ashamed to admit.
I love the team concept at Iron Tribe and the accountability that it brings, I love that the coaches check in on me, push me and genuinely care about my goals and progress.
I’ve been on that rollercoaster my whole life. I love the team concept at Iron Tribe and the accountability that it brings, I love that the coaches check in on me, push me and genuinely care about my goals and progress. I love that its not just about the sweat, but the nutrition, which is so important. I joined iron tribe to maintain a consistent, healthy lifestyle for Heather, Levi and Nolan (my family).
I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I remember excitedly telling Heather about the class and program and reading her my fuel manual and getting in trouble for tossing out perfectly ‘good’ food!
I wasn’t concerned with numbers, I just wanted to feel better, feel ‘healthy’. I believe Erin asked me to define that and I couldn’t. It was more about improving my state of mind than stats.
My life is busy — busy might be an understatement. I have four jobs; general manager of a heavy equipment distribution company, realtor, working board member of a non-profit ministry and most importantly husband/father/coach! The only Iron Tribe time available for me is early in the mornings. My jobs often take me late into the night, so I’m often going to bed in the early morning and that 6 am class comes up really fast, but the program keeps me motivated so I get up and go!
It’s the perfect mix of team atmosphere and one on one coaching with a focus not only on exercise but nutrition as well. It’s the only program I have encountered that tackles it all!
I don’t think I have quite reached that level yet, since I’ve been up and down so much in my life with weight and physical abilities. However, a pull up is something I have never been able to do even in times of better shape!
Higher energy levels, much more stamina!
My goal for 2017 was getting below 200 pounds. Ultimately, I have that 185 number in my head, but I’m still not overly concerned with numbers but rather how I feel and my state of mind. Pull up is another longer term goal — maybe abs, they both seem a little lofty at the moment and I’m impatient so I don’t want to think about those too much!
