On the Rowing ergometer, feet are strapped in and hands are on the handle. Legs start the movement, driving the body back. The torso continues the movement, and the arms finish the movement with a pull. The return is opposite of the pull - arms extend, torso returns, then legs bend to finish back to the starting position.
